BaZi Day Master compatibility is one of the most useful starting points when a relationship question feels too complex for a simple zodiac chart.
The Day Master is the Heavenly Stem of your Day Pillar. In plain language, it points to the core elemental quality of the self.
When you compare two Day Masters, you are not asking whether two labels look nice together. You are asking how two core energies meet.
The ten Day Masters
BaZi uses five elements, each expressed in yin and yang form. This creates ten possible Day Masters.
| Element | Yang form | Yin form |
|---|---|---|
| Wood | Yang Wood | Yin Wood |
| Fire | Yang Fire | Yin Fire |
| Earth | Yang Earth | Yin Earth |
| Metal | Yang Metal | Yin Metal |
| Water | Yang Water | Yin Water |
Support is not the only kind of compatibility
Many people assume compatibility means two elements should support each other. Support matters, but it is not the whole story.
A controlling relationship between elements can also create attraction, structure, and useful tension. The question is whether that control feels healthy or suffocating.
The productive cycle
The productive cycle shows one element feeding or strengthening another.
| Element | Produces |
|---|---|
| Wood | Fire |
| Fire | Earth |
| Earth | Metal |
| Metal | Water |
| Water | Wood |
The controlling cycle
The controlling cycle is not automatically negative. In a relationship, it can show pressure, attraction, boundaries, or the lessons two people bring into each other’s lives.
| Element | Controls |
|---|---|
| Wood | Earth |
| Earth | Water |
| Water | Fire |
| Fire | Metal |
| Metal | Wood |
What makes a Day Master match feel good
A good Day Master match usually has some combination of support, respect, rhythm, and space. It does not mean there is never conflict.
It means the conflict has somewhere to go. The two people can grow from the dynamic rather than only feel consumed by it.
